CORVALLIS — Mason Weisgerber dominated the 5,000-meter invite section and Carter Stedman won the 1,500-meter open race in Friday night's distance carnival at the Oregon State High Performance meet. 

Weisgerber won the race in 14 minutes 17.26 seconds, finishing seven seconds ahead of British Columbia's Maximillien Filion (14:24.77). The junior came through 2,200 meters in fourth place, following two pace setters and Corban's Jack Gladfelter, before taking the lead at the 3,000-meter mark and promptly gapping the field to solo run the rest of the way. 

Earlier in the evening, Stedman beat a 66-man field in the open 1,500m, winning with a personal best time of 3:53.12. The junior entered the bell lap in second place, before hawking down Pacific's Henry Tierney, who led four seconds ahead of Stedman at the 700-meter mark. 

Alyssa Johnson ran one second off of her personal best and claimed fifth in the 5,000-meter invite section with a time of 16:48.52. 

Both Weisgerber and Johnson ran NAIA 5K 'A' standard marks for the second time this season. Stedman posted a Cascade Conference Championship qualifying time. 

Day two of the meet continues on Saturday at 2 p.m.
