ASHLAND – Southern Oregon University's sports information department was recognized by the College Sports Communicators (CSC) on Wednesday with a Fred Stabley Sr. Writing Contest award.

SOU won for best event coverage in the District 8 College Division, which includes all NAIA, NCAA Division II and Division III schools across seven states and Canada.

The winning entry, written by Josh McDermott, detailed the Raider softball team's victory in last year's NAIA World Series national championship game.

SOU's sports info work from 2025 also yielded four top-five entries in the NAIA-SIDA Publications & Media Contest and a Cascade Conference CSC Staff of the Year award.
