ASHLAND – Six members of the Southern Oregon University track and field team will represent the Raiders next week at the NAIA Outdoor Championships, the national office announced.

The complete qualifiers list had SOU competing in six events with eight total entries at the meet, which runs May 20-22 at Karl Straus Track in Asheville, N.C.

Junior All-America distance runners Alyssa Johnson and Mason Weisgerber will both pull double-duty in their third appearances on the national outdoor stage, running the 5,000 meters and 10,000 meters with top-six seeds in each. Johnson placed seventh in the 10K and eighth in the 5K a year ago (she also won the Cascade Conference 5K last week) while Weisgerber took eighth in the 5K.

Weisgerber will be joined in the men's 5K by teammate Carter Stedman, a first-year Raider who became an All-American in the fall with a fourth-place finish at the NAIA Cross Country Championships.

The Raiders have another multi-time qualifier in pole-vaulter Katherine Martinez, who will enter the meet as a No. 7 seed. Sydney Perkins will make her first appearance in that field.

SOU's final representative will be another first-time in freshman star Lilly Pickett. The sprinter from Turner captured a CCC title last week in the 400 meters and will run that race again with the field's 14th-best qualifying time. She's already an All-American, having placed sixth in the 600 this March at the NAIA Indoor Championships.
