LA GRANDE — Alyssa Johnson won her first CCC title and the Southern Oregon University track and field team earned three men's All-Cascade Conference performances as the CCC Championships presented by U.S. Bank concluded on Saturday.
Johnson tacked on her second All-CCC honor of the meet and third of her career, winning the 5,000-meter with a time of 17 minutes 46.20 seconds. The junior led gun to tape, building a 14-second lead in the first 1,000 meters and finishing 20 seconds ahead of College of Idaho's Rozzlyn Cazier (18:06.19). She became just the fourth woman in program history to win a CCC 5K title and the second since 2000.
Johnson ended the meet scoring 16 points for the Raider women, who placed fifth as a team with 56 points, while the Raider men finished eighth with 53 points. Eastern Oregon claimed the men's team title with 149.5 points and British Columbia (B.C.) won the women's championship with 205 points.
Mason Weisgerber and Carter Stedman went two-three in the men's 5K, running 14:40.19 and 14:47, respectively. Weisgerber improved upon his third-place finish at the 2025 Championships and Stedman picked up his second All-CCC honor of the meet. Together, the two contributed to over half (27) of the Raider men's total team points.
Josh Hepner surprised the field in the 800-meter, attaining All-CCC status while running from the 'B' heat. The freshman placed first in Heat 1 of 2 with a personal best time of 1:53.77 to finish third overall. He posted a 400-meter split of 57.40, then closed in 56.37 to break 1:54 for the first time.
Lilly Pickett placed fourth in the women's 800-meter, finishing just two-hundredths of a second off the NAIA 'B' standard in a personal best time of 2:13.93. The freshman ran splits of 1:06.92 and 1:07.01 as she improved upon her No. 2 position on the SOU all-time 800-meter list. She finished one second behind Northwest's (Wash.) Rachel Elliott, who won in 2:12.93, and half a second behind third-place Riley Morris (2:13.43) from Eastern Oregon.
Pickett ended the weekend tallying 15 points for the Raiders, while Friday's vault crew of Sydney Perkins and Katherine Martinez accounted for 14 points. Alaina Casady placed sixth in the 5K (19:01.65) to score three points.
The men's 4x400 meter relay team, made up of Zak Weddell, Gus Blank, Brodie Leslie and Trey Lucas, placed fifth in a season's best time (3:18.78). Before that, Blank finished seventh in the 800m (1:55.36), Weddell was 13th in the 400m hurdles (56.87) and Lucas finished 15th in the 200m (22.27).
Johanna Heil threw an SOU No. 8 mark in javelin (39.49m/129-06) and Ali Stevens set a lifetime best in the 400m hurdles (1:06.53). Emily Picard ran a personal best in the 800m (2:19.46).
