ASHLAND – JP Warnell made Southern Oregon men's soccer history on Saturday and was voted the Cascade Conference Offensive Player of the Week on Monday, the CCC office announced.

Warnell attempted three shots and scored three goals for SOU in a 4-1 season-opening win at Simpson (Calif.), becoming the first Raider ever to register a hat trick in his debut.

The senior from Camas, Wash., came to Ashland via Cal Poly Humboldt, where he made 15 appearances and three starts last year. Prior to that stay, he was an NWAC all-star for two seasons at Clark C.C. (Wash.).

Warnell scored the first goal of 2026 in the 12th minute against the Red Hawks, then made it 2-0 in the 20th. Sitting on a two-goal lead, he completed the feat in the 88th.

He and the Raiders will be in Arizona this week to visit Embry-Riddle on Friday and Benedictine Mesa on Sunday. They're home for the first time Sept. 3-4 to face The Master's (Calif.) and Arizona Christian.
