The Southern Oregon women's tennis team improved to 9-1 on the season with two more wins today in Colorado.
The Raiders defeated NCAA Division II Colorado Christian 9-0 this morning and then defeated NCAA Division III Colorado College 6-3 this afternoon. Both matches were played in Colorado Springs.
SOU travels to Denver tomorrow to face Metro State.
The Raiders breezed through the morning matches against Colorado Christian, but had some trouble with Colorado College.
SOU won all three doubles matches against the Tigers, but they were pushed. SOU's No. 1 team of
Katie Ross (Lake Oswego, Ore./Lakeridge) and
Rebecca Weicher (Grants Pass, Ore./Grants Pass) won 8-4 and the No. 2 team of
Heidi Chiles (Redding, Calif./Foothill) and Charlotte Duran held on to win 8-6. In the No. 3 doubles match,
Mallory Byers (Bend, Ore./Mountain View) and Erin Bruni won 8-1.
In singles play, Ross, Byers and
Elizabeth Kiger (Logan, Utah/Logan) were victorious for the Raiders.
Kiger clinched the match for the Raiders with quick work in the No. 6 singles match and Byers was down 5-4 in the third set and came back to win 7-5.
