The Southern Oregon women's tennis team finished the 2010 regular season with a split today in Caldwell, Idaho.

The Raiders dropped a tough 5-4 setback to Montana State-Billings to start the day and then defeated College of Idaho 8-1 in the season finale.

The Raiders wrap up the season 4-7 overall and will host the Ashland Tennis Club in an exhibition match on April 3.

In the setback to MSU-Billings, the Raiders were only able to come away with a victory in one doubles' match - the No. 3 slot.

The SOU duo of Liz Kiger and Emma Wilson (Crescent City, Calif./Del Norte) won 8-5 to get one point for the Raiders. In singles play, Lexi Thomas (Redding, Calif./Shasta) won the No. 2 singles match and Wilson and Kayla Carroll (Butteville, Ore./North Marion) won the No. 5 and No. 6 singles matches in third set tiebreakers.

"We played well, they just played a little bit better," SOU head coach Ari Zaslow said. "It came down to the doubles' matches."

In the victory over College of Idaho, the Raiders only dropped a single singles' match.

"Everyone played great," Zaslow said. "It was a great way to finish the season."
