The Southern Oregon women's team wrapped up the 2009 season with a 7-2 victory over NCAA Division II Metro State today in Denver.
The Raiders finish 2009 with a 10-1 record and a match away from postseason play. SOU's lone defeat during the season was to Regional foe Lewis-Clark State. That one loss will keep them out of postseason play.
Senior
Katie Ross (Lake Oswego, Ore./Lakeridge) wrapped up her career in fine fashion. Ross won her singles match and also teamed up with
Rebecca Weicher (Grants Pass, Ore./Grants Pass) to win the No. 1 doubles matches.
Ross wraps up her career with 85 total victories, which ranks third all-time. She also ranked third in career doubles victories (43) and fourth in career singles victories (42).
SOU swept the doubles play and Ross,
Heidi Chiles (Redding, Calif./Foothill),
Erin Bruni (Eugene, Ore./Sheldon) and
Elizabeth Kiger (Logan, Utah/Logan) won their singles matches.
