ASHLAND – The Southern Oregon University men's soccer team has begun a mandatory 14-day pause of all team activities in accordance with Cascade Collegiate Conference COVID-19 protocols, SOU Director of Athletics
Matt Sayre announced Friday.
The earliest the Raiders could resume practice is April 7. The remaining games on their CCC schedule – Sunday and Monday at Oregon Tech, April 5-6 against Corban, and two makeup games April 10-11 at Northwest (Wash.) that were to be played only if they affected the CCC championship race – have been canceled, but could be made up later as non-conference games.
According to the CCC's Oregon Health Authority-approved protocols, teams with fewer than 50 individuals are required to suspend activities when three or more have been put in isolation, and may resume two weeks after the date of the most recent positive coronavirus test.
The Raiders were 3-1 through two weeks of action. Their scheduled opening weekend at Northwest had been canceled due to NU pausing team activities.
