ASHLAND – Southern Oregon University track and field stars Lindsey Bonney and KiAshe Hobby and softball ace Gabby Sandoval have been tabbed Cascade Conference Embrace Health-Santiam Hospital Athletes of the Week, the league office announced Monday.

At SOU Meet 3 last weekend at Raider Stadium, Bonney won the 100- and 200-meter races and anchored SOU's 4x100 team to the fifth-best time in the NAIA this season, 46.98 seconds. Her 100 time of 12.10 was the third-fastest in SOU history, the fastest in the CCC this season, and good for an NAIA 'B' mark. She already had a 'B' in the 200 – running that in 24.79, No. 4 on SOU's all-time list, two weeks ago – and was sharp in that race again, topping the field in 25.13.

Hobby won the discus, hammer and shot put. Her throw of 169 feet 9 inches in the hammer broke her own school record by 4-7 and made her an automatic qualifier for the NAIA Outdoor Championships, landing her at No. 9 on the national performance list. The sophomore from Sacramento, Calif. – who is the CCC's defending hammer champ – also established a new PR in the discus of 133-1.

In the Raider softball team's four-game sweep at Eastern Oregon, Sandoval pitched 12 more innings without allowing an earned run. She spun a four-hit shutout in Game 1, her eighth of the season, and allowed one hit and an unearned run in a five-inning affair in Game 3. She struck out 12 with two walks on the weekend, improved to 18-0, and dropped her ERA to 1.11.

SOU's track and field team will travel to Eugene to compete at Lane's Titan Invitational on Friday and Saturday. Meanwhile, the top-ranked Raider softball team (34-2, 17-1 CCC) will be home to face first-place and 23rd-ranked College of Idaho.
