ASHLAND – Southern Oregon collected bonus points in five of its six victories to defeat Corban 28-21 in a Cascade Conference dual Friday night at Bob Riehm Arena, evening its record at 5-5.

The Raiders clinched the win with back-to-back pins from 174-pounder Noah Talavera and 184-pounder Kabb Christensen that put them ahead 28-12. Talavera put Tyler Moore on his back with 32 seconds left in the second round, and Christensen turned around an early deficit to pin Noah Sickles with less than a minute left in his match.

SOU opened up an early 16-6 lead by taking four of the first five matches. Pancho Barrera, ranked No. 15 in the NAIA at 125, opened by securing a 21-6 technical fall over Wesley Vasquez in the third round. Justin Coon, ranked No. 15 at 133, followed with a 12-3 major decision over Ryan Davis.

After Corban's Kane Nixon won by fall at 141, SOU's Travis Thorpe came through in a turning point at 149. His two-point takedown of Michael Murphy was scored just before the final buzzer to make him a 5-4 winner, and 11th-ranked JJ Talavera scored at the buzzer in the 157-pound match to make himself a 10-2 winner by major decision against Yasyf Sorensen.

David Rubio (165) added a pin for the Warriors and Tyson Stover (197) won by decision. They got their final points via forfeit in the heavyweight match.

The Raiders have won all four of their head-to-head meetings with the Warriors.

They'll take on 19th-ranked Eastern Oregon at 7 p.m. Saturday in the final dual of the season, attempting to secure a winning record.
