MEET CENTRAL

CORVALLIS – Haylee Brodahl and KiAshe Hobby expanded the Southern Oregon track and field team's NAIA Outdoor Championships guest list by meeting automatic-qualifying standards on Friday at the Oregon State University High Performance Meet.

The duo strengthened the national standing for the Raiders – ranked 10th in this week's USTFCCCA women's poll – with Brodahl running the 10,000 meters in 37 minutes 2.90 seconds and Hobby throwing the hammer 168 feet 11 inches.

Brodahl, a sophomore from Camas, Wash., needed a time of 37:30 or better for the 'A' mark. Hers was a 44-second PR and the 13th-best in the NAIA behind teammate Kayla Clayton. She shot to No. 6 on SOU's all-time 10K performance list and finished sixth of 14 in the invitational race.

Hobby, who previously owned a 'B' in the hammer, hit the 'A' for the third season in a row. Her throw was season-best by a margin of 3-4 and put her at No. 10 on the NAIA performance list – SOU's sixth top-10 mark this season. She placed fifth of 35 entries.

Lindsey Bonney was seventh of 38 in the 200 (25.28 seconds) and Molly Guerra was sixth of 32 in the discus (139-1). Lauren Forster was 29th of 73 in the 1,500 (4:49.25) with a new PR, and Jenna Hodges went 17-0 in the long jump for 12th place.

On the men's side, Isaac Fernandez placed 12th of 28 in the 5K invitational (14:55.52) with a 19-second PR that put him just 5.52 seconds off the 'B' standard, and Jensen Salvatori (15:00.09) followed him in 18th place. Wayne Garcia was fifth of 25 in the hammer (173-1), where he and Conner Johnson (165-7) both established PRs. Shane McLaughlin placed 10th of 40 in the 200 (22.48) and Cade O'Connor was fourth of 15 in the 400 hurdles (55.82).

The meet continues at 11 a.m. Saturday.
