KiAshe Hobby have been voted Cascade Conference WVT Laboratory Athletes of the Week, the conference office announced.
Donovan, the 10th-ranked Raiders' star catcher, collected the award for the third time this season following a four-game sweep of Corban to end the regular season. The junior went 6-for-9 with seven walks, a home run, three doubles, nine RBIs and six runs scored for the series. In the process she broke SOU's single-season RBI record, bringing her NAIA-leading total to 83 (which is tops on the leaderboard by a margin of 10).
Among all qualifying NAIA players, Donovan also ranks first in walks (46) and on-base percentage (.611), second in home runs (17) and doubles (22), and third in batting average (.503). She and the Raiders (46-10) will compete in the Cascade Conference Tournament as the No. 2 seed this week in Klamath Falls, starting with a 4:30 p.m. Friday matchup against No. 3 seed Eastern Oregon or No. 6 seed Corban.
Hobby took her award after becoming an automatic qualifier for the NAIA Outdoor Championships in the hammer with a throw of 168 feet 11 inches at Oregon State's High Performance Meet. She'll be at the national meet for the third consecutive season and currently ranks 10th on the NAIA performance list.
