GLENEDEN BEACH – Nathaniel Frink claimed fourth place in a 38-person field and Ricky Reisner tied for fifth to lead the Southern Oregon University golf team as its debut competition, the Coastal Collegiate Classic, concluded Tuesday at Salishan Golf Links.

The Raider men finished fifth of six teams, compiling 966 strokes over the three-round event. Lewis-Clark State (Idaho) landed on top with 909, and Oregon Tech took second at 954 after gaining 14 strokes on SOU in the final round.

Frink, a sophomore from La Crescenta, Calif., enjoyed one of the most consistent weeks of anyone on the leaderboard – carding a 7-over-par 77 in Round 1, a 77 in Round 2, and a 78 in Round 3 to end up 22-over. He parred his final three holes after recording two birdies on the front nine.

Reisner finished 25-over after turning in an 83 on Tuesday. Matt Forsyth (38-over) tied for 21st and Cruz Kilborn (45-over) tied for 25th.

The Raider women – who, with three competitors, were one short of being eligible to register a team score – were led by 12th-place Thyra Altvatter in a 20-person field. The freshman from Bend used a strong final round to end at 59-over, carding a 79 in Round 3 – 12 strokes better than she'd shot in either of the first two rounds and tied with Oregon Tech medalist Payton Canon for Tuesday's top score.

Bryn Lawson settled at one stroke behind Altvatter in 13th place and Carley Streitler was seven strokes back of Lawson in 15th.

The co-medalists on the men's side were Bushnell's Cade Stubbs and LCSC's Devon Caruso, who finished 10-over.

The Raiders will compete again next Monday and Tuesday at the College of Idaho Invitational in Caldwell.
