REDDING, Calif. – Not only is Oliver Ausland the first Southern Oregon men's golfer to earn multiple medalist honors in the same season, he also completed the feat in back-to-back outings by finishing off a six-stroke victory on Tuesday at the Simpson Invite.

Ausland, a junior from Grants Pass, shot 11-under par across three rounds at the par-72 Riverview Country Club. He carded a 67 in the first round, a 68 in the second, and held a five-stroke lead before nailing down a 70 on his final trip around the course.

Ausland was coming off a 3-under, co-medalist effort three weeks ago at the Rocky Mountain Intercollegiate, which marked SOU's first outing of the spring. Dating back to the fall, he has paced the Raiders in three consecutive tournaments.

SOU's men placed fifth as a team at Simpson, going 30-over collectively to beat Oregon Tech by one stroke. Ricky Reisner was 5-over to tie for 14th on the 56-person leaderboard and carded a 71 in his first round.

On the women's side, the Raiders placed third of four teams at 98-over. Keira Cheng took third place at 12-over in the two-round affair and was three strokes behind medalist Katelyn Miller of Simpson (Calif.). Cheng carded a 77 in the second round to Miller's 74.

Mia Bontrager added a top-10 finish at 25-over, improving upon her first-round 89 with an 80 in the second.

SOU's next outing, April 13-14 at Portland's Glendoveer Golf Course, will be the third of four Cascade Conference-counting events on the schedule. It's also the Raiders' final tuneup for the CCC Championship.
