COLUMBIA, Mo. – The Southern Oregon women's cross country team's top-end talent came through one last time on Friday morning.

For the first time in program history, the Raiders produced three women's All-Americans at the NAIA Cross Country Championships. Sophomore Alyssa Johnson, freshman Fiona Fraser and senior Cammeo Ramirez were more or less shoulder-to-shoulder for the duration of the 6,000-meter race on Gans Creek Course, coming in 32nd, 33rd and 34th in the 326-runner field.

The trio pulled the Raiders up to 16th in the team standings. Each earned All-America status for the first time, occupying the 29th, 30th and 31st scoring slots. SOU's fourth and fifth scorers, sophomores Mercedes Harms and Ashley Jentzsch, were in the 185th and 189th positions, placing 245th and 266th overall.

Senior Jalen Griego, SOU's individual men's qualifier, was only eight spots removed from All-America honors in 48th place. He completed the 8K in 24:49.0 and climbed 70 spots up the leaderboard over the second half of the race.

On the women's side, too, the Raiders got stronger as the race went on. Johnson clocked a personal best in 21:41.8, as did Ramirez in 21:44.0. Fraser wasn't far off hers, finishing just between them in 21:43.5. Midway through the 6K, they were in 58th-through-61st place.

The Raiders were among seven teams with three All-Americans. Their only previous top-three display that rivaled this one was in 2018, when they turned in a program-best fourth-place team finish and had the 26th-, 30th- and 36th-place individuals. (At the time, only the top-32 were considered All-Americans.)

Harms hit the finish line in 24:09.5, Jentzsch in 24:39.2, and Abi Stevens – the 11-time track and field All-American who volunteered her services who volunteered her services to give the Raiders some insurance depth – was 296th in 25:51.2. Outside of the decathlon 800, the senior had never run a collegiate distance race before this fall.

The appearance was SOU's 10th in a row in the women's championship race. Their lowest team finish during the stretch has been 18th.

The Master's (Calif.) won the women's title. College of Idaho claimed it on the men's side.
