COMPLETE TOURNAMENT RESULTS

OREGON CITY Elias Corona and Zach Keinonen led the charge on an encouraging day for Southern Oregon's true freshmen, coming away from the Clackamas Open as titlists on Sunday.

The Raiders sent a group of 20 wrestlers to the tournament and had nine top-three placers. Two more freshmen, Diesel Del Rosario (125 pounds) and Carson Gooley (197), were runners-up alongside Mikey Ladkani (133) and Adrian Chavez-Morales (184). Dylan Mann (157), Kabb Christensen (197) and freshman Carlos Garcia (184) finished third.

Corona, an Oakdale, Calif., product wrestling at 197, outscored four opponents 43-5 combined, during his perfect afternoon, mixing in a technical fall and a major decision. He defeated his teammate, Gooley, by 3-1 decision in the final.

Keinonen, a Newberg High alum competing at 133, went 3-0 with a pin and two major decisions. He won his title match against Ladkani, 11-1.

Chavez-Morales and Mann were the team's leaders in points with 20 apiece. The former pinned three consecutive foes before dropping a 5-3 decision in his final, and the latter recorded three pins and a technical fall during his 5-1 outing.

Jonathan Hernandez (149) and Diego Cruz (165) placed fourth. Sam Aiken (165) and Preston Echeverria (184) were sixth for the Raiders.

SOU competes next on Saturday with a 7:30 p.m. dual at Corban.
