SPRINGFIELD Haley Brown finished ninth place for the Southern Oregon women and Riley Kirk climbed up to 10th for the men as the season-opening Bushnell Fall Invitational concluded Tuesday at Pine Ridge Golf Club.

Brown's top-10 showing was the senior's second of her career in a Cascade Conference event. After carding a 77 in Monday's first round, she turned in an 83 in the second to end at 16-over on the par-72 course.

Keira Cheng was 18-over to finish 12th on the 41-person leaderboard for the Raider women, who were 91-over collectively to take fourth place of eight teams. Cheng had the team's low round of the day, an 82, while Camryn Schaper improved by four strokes in the second round with an 85. At 30-over, Schaper was one stroke behind her 24th-place teammate, Mia Bontrager (+29). Abby Francis (+37) was 32nd.

SOU finished tied with College of Idaho for seventh place of nine teams in the three-round men's tournament. Kirk had rounds of 76 and 74 on Monday before closing with a 76 on Tuesday to move three spots up the leaderboard. The newcomer's day included an eagle on the par-5 18th hole and three birdies.

Ricky Reisner (+21) and Ethan Miller (+21) tied for 28th place for the Raiders with matching 79s over the final 18 holes. Mason Labow (+26) tied for 34th and Preston Brandt (+28) was 39th.

British Columbia ran away with both team titles. The individual medalists were Oregon Tech's Quincy Beyrouty (-3) on the women's side and UBC's Aidan Schumer (-5) on the men's.

The tournament was the first of four CCC counters on the 2024-25 schedule, each of which go towards deciding all-conference performers and NAIA National Tournament qualifiers. The next will be hosted by UBC on Oct. 21-22 in Bremerton, Wash.

SOU is in action again at Lake Shastina Golf Resort on Sept. 16-17 in Simpson's North vs. South Tournament.
