MEN'S LEADERBOARD | WOMEN'S LEADERBOARD

REDDING, Calif. – The Southern Oregon men's golf team was a stroke away from victory and claimed three of the top-four spots on the individual leaderboard in Monday and Tuesday's two-round Simpson Spring Invite at Riverview Country Club.

Riley Kirk and Mason Labow both shot even-par to tie for second place out of 53 total men's golfers. Keira Cheng also tied for second on the 39-person women's leaderboard to lead SOU, which finished third in that tournament.

The Raider men were in fifth place out of eight 'A' teams after accumulating 298 strokes in the first round, then made their move with 289 in the second to land at 11-over – one stroke away from first-place Southwestern Oregon C.C., which shot a 300 in the second round.

Behind Kirk and Labow – whose 2-under was the top score on Day 2 – SOU produced the fourth-place finisher in James Bushmiaer, who was 2-over for the Raider 'B' team. Oliver Ausland (+5) tied for 12th and Ryder Jacox (+6) was 16th.

Southwestern Oregon's Shane Sundberg was the men's medalist at 4-under, carding a 65 in Round 1.

Cheng was seven strokes back of Oregon Tech's Quincy Beyrouty for medalist honors on the women's side, finishing 8-over. She carded a 1-over in Round 2, helping SOU improve its score by 12 strokes and finish 26-over. Oregon Tech (+46) took first place and Grace (Ind.) (+51) was second.

The Raider women got a fifth-place finish from Haley Brown (+13), who shot 3-over in Round 2. Mia Bontrager (+13) tied for 13th.

SOU plays its third Cascade Conference-counting tournament of the season, and first of the spring, April 7-8 at Stone Ridge Golf Club in Eagle Point.
