EAGLE POINT – The Southern Oregon men's golf team finished under par and boasted a trio of top-10 finishers for the first time ever in a Cascade Conference-counting event as the SOU Spring Classic concluded Tuesday at Stone Ridge Golf Course.

The Raider men wrapped 54 holes at 2-under to take third in the team standings and the women were 78-over across 36 holes to place fourth in the tournament, which was the third of four CCC counters this season.

Ty Beyer led the Raider men in a tie for fourth place, moving six spots up the leaderboard in the third round with a 70 on the par-72 course. He finished 2-under, while Mason Labow ended even to tie for seventh place and Ricky Reisner was 1-over to take 10th. The top-10 finishes were the first for all three in conference action this season, and Oliver Ausland nearly joined them but tied for 11th at 3-over.

The Raiders were only eight strokes behind the co-champions, No. 6-ranked British Columbia and Lewis-Clark State. They'd never previously been fewer than 43 strokes behind the leaders in a CCC counter.

On the women's side, Keira Cheng finished 6-over to lead the Raiders in seventh, earning her first top-10 spot of the CCC season. She carded a 74 in the second round.

Haley Brown (+19) tied for 15th, Mia Bontrager (+24) was 22nd, and three more Raiders landed within a stroke of each other – Camryn Schaper (+38) in 32nd, and Abby Francis (+39) and Mya Oakes (+39) in a tie for 33rd.

Top-ranked UBC ran away with the team title with five golfers occupying the top-five spots on the leaderboard.

In two weeks, SOU travels to Portland for the CCC Championship. Entering that tournament, Cheng is on track for All-CCC honors with the circuit's ninth-best scoring average (76.8) on the women's side, while Beyer (73.5) is seventh and Riley Kirk (73.7) is eighth on the men's side.

Kirk ended the week in a tie for 18th at 6-over. He was 1-under entering the final round.
