ASHLAND –
Sebastian Echeverria and
Tyler Rhue entered the individual rankings and the Southern Oregon men's wrestling team checked in at No. 6 in the latest NAIA Top 25 coaches' poll released Thursday by the national office.
The Raiders (9-1 overall) moved down one spot as a team, jumped by Oklahoma City – a team they defeated 25-15 on their way to fifth place at last week's NWCA-NAIA National Duals.
They were again represented by 12 ranked individuals. Rhue joined that group at No. 21 in the 141-pound class and Echeverria jumped in at No. 22 in the heavyweight division.
SOU's four highest-ranked individuals topped their respective classes in the Cascade Conference rankings: No. 4
Asher Ruchti (197 pounds), No. 5
Isaac Hampton (125), No. 6
Kolton Malone (149) and No. 6
Avant Stepherson (157). Stepherson was the team's top climber, up seven spots compared to the last poll. Malone moved up five spots and Hampton went up three.
The Raiders are off this week before hosting three duals next week – Friday against Westcliff (Calif.) at 4 p.m. and No. 17 Corban at 6 p.m., and Saturday against No. 8 Embry-Riddle (Ariz.) at 5 p.m.
