Kelly Gieber received Cascade Conference Red Lion Defensive Player of the Week recognition on Monday after the Southern Oregon men's soccer team turned in back-to-back clean sheets against College of Idaho and Eastern Oregon over the weekend.

A senior defender from Bend, Gieber was instrumental to SOU (7-5 overall, 5-2 CCC) allowing only one shot on goal in each of the 2-0 wins. He's been active for the entirety of the Raiders' 17-game CCC home unbeaten streak, during which they've shut out 15 opponents.

Gieber also set up Adrian Villegas' game-winning goal in the eighth minute of the C of I matchup. The assist was his fourth of the season and the 17th of his career, the highest total for any Raider in the five-year history of the team.

Since joining the Raiders as a freshman in 2016, Gieber has started 73 of their 74 games. He earned All-CCC honorable mention after his sophomore and junior seasons.

Sitting in third place, SOU will be back on the road this week – playing Friday at Corban and Saturday at Northwest Christian.
