ASHLAND – The No. 7-ranked Southern Oregon beach volleyball team completed a perfect opening homestand by topping No. 10 College of Idaho, 4-1, and Northwest (Wash.), 5-0, on Saturday afternoon at the Raider Beach Courts.

The Raiders were the only team out of four to get out of the Cascade Conference weekend meet-up unscathed. They upped their record to 6-6 overall and 4-2 in CCC play.

"It was important for us to establish momentum this weekend," SOU coach Paul Elliott said, "and we did that by winning 14 of 15 matches."

In the other duals, College of Idaho swept Simpson to end its trip at 5-2 in the CCC, and Northwest did the same to the Red Hawks to land at 3-5.

In the marquee dual of the day, SOU got sweeps against C of I from No. 1 pair Madi Gray and Tessa Zimmermann, No. 2 pair Grace Gulbrandsen and Linda Conceicao, No. 4 pair Andressa Ribeiro Soares and Natalie Perez, and No. 5 pair Skyy Nihipali-Botelho and Kendal Hadwick. The Yotes' No. 3 pair, Maya Blake and Faith Faucher, got them on the board.

The Raiders continue CCC play Thursday with a doubleheader at Simpson.
