The 1946 team is the only unbeaten and untied full-season football team in the history of Southern Oregon State College.  Going 8-0, the team scored 176 points while giving up 42.  Defeating Central Washington in the Pear Bowl, the team was one of only two undefeated and untied teams west of the Rockies.  The team was nicknamed the "side-hill wampus" team because its practice field was the side-hill lawn in front of Churchill Hall.
