Dan Miles was captain of the SOSC basketball team in 1965 and was named All-League, but his strongest skills were in baseball and football.  In baseball,  Miles was All-District and All-League from 1965-68.  He was offered a professional contract by the New York Yankess in 1963 and by the San Francisco Giants in 1967.  In football, he lettered for four years and was named to All-Conference, All-District, All-Coast, and All-American teams.  He still holds the NAIA passing records for percentage of pass completions for both season and career highs.  Miles led the nation in passing in 1964, and in total offense in 1965.  For three years he served as captain of the SOSC football team.
