Bob Riehm served as the head wrestling coach at SOU from 1969-94 and turned the SOU wrestling program into one of the top program’s in the Nation. The Raiders claimed the school’s first three team NAIA National Championships in 1978, 1983 and 1994. During his 25-year run as head coach, the Raiders went 270-71-2 in dual meets and Riehm still holds the program’s record for wins. Riehm also never endured a losing season as a head coach. Twelve of Riehm’s team on NAIA Regional Championships and 18 of his teams finished in the top eight at the NAIA National Championships. The 1982-83 team became the program’s first undefeated team by going 12-0-1 and defeated NCAA Division I Oregon State for the first time in program history. During his tenure, Riehm coached 13 NAIA National Champions, 100 NAIA All-Americans and earned National Coach of the Year honors twice.
