Not only did Tom Chipps leave SOU as the top scorer in men’s basketball history, he was also was a key clog in SOU’s basketball turnaround. As a freshman, he helped them to a 13-win improvement that marked the biggest turnaround in the NAIA. As a sophomore in 1998-99, he led them to conference regular-season and tournament titles and an appearance in the national tournament – the Raiders' first of each in 30 years.  As of induction, Chipps ranks fourth on SOU’s career scoring list with 1,648 points. He averaged 14.2 points, led the Raiders to the postseason three times and was a two-time all-star selection.
