Jensen is the only person in Southern Oregon history to win national individual championships on two different teams. After transferring from Oregon State, Jensen won the 1978 NAIA steeplechase in a national record time of 8:47.49. And in one of the most remarkable coaching achievements at this school, he helped guide the track and field squad to the 1978 NAIA District II championship as a students-athlete/interim coach. Six months later, he finished first in a field of 384 runners to claim the NAIA cross country title. His efforts earned NAIA Athlete of the Year Acoolades.
