Dale Grant became the school's third NAIA track and field champion after unleashing a 236-11 1/2 toss to win the 1977 national javelin championship.  The Mill City native established the school javelin record that still stands with a 242-3 heave earlier in the season.  Grant won the Evergreen Conference javelin title as a freshman in 1974 with a 207-6 and was the team's representative at the national meet in 1975.
