Sid DeBoer, his wife Karen and Lithia Auto Stores have long supported Southern Oregon University and SOU Athletics. Some of DeBoer's first gifts to SOU Athletics helped construct Raider Stadium in the early 1980s. DeBoer has also played a huge role in increasing scholarships through the Raider Club Fund Drive, and he is a big supporter of the annual Raider Club Auction.
DeBoer's biggest contribution to Raider Athletics and the student-athletes of SOU may come through his role in the annual Raider Club Golf Shootout. In 2006, under DeBoer's direction, Lithia Auto Stores took over as the lead sponsor of the new Lithia/Raider Club Golf Shootout. With DeBoer and Lithia's involvement, the tournament went from making between $20,000 and $30,000 a year to pushing over $200,000 on an annual basis as of induction. All the money from the golf tournament goes toward scholarships for SOU student-athletes.
