Hall of Fame
Tiwana Merritt was a member of both the track and field and women's basketball teams at SOU from 1997 to 2002. Merritt's biggest impact came on the track at Raider Stadium as she earned four NAIA All-American honors and totaled 13 individual Cascade Collegiate Conference Championships in track and field. In 1999, Merritt earned her first All-American honor with a fifth place finish in the 400. In 2001, she finished second in the 400 to earn her second All-American honor. In 2002, she earned a pair of All-American honors, finishing third in the 400 and also helping the 4x100 relay team to a sixth place finish.
Merritt earned Cascade Conference Athlete of the Year honors in both 2001 and 2002 and was named NAIA District Athlete of the Year in 2002. She also earned the school record in the 100, 200 and 400 and set the Cascade Conference Championship record in the 200. In basketball, Merritt was a key player on a pair of Cascade Conference championship teams.
