Sally Jones served SOU in numerous capacities from 1974-98. During that stretch, Jones coached numerous women’s sports and held administrative positions and was known for her unwavering dedication to supporting and improving the opportunities for the school’s female student-athletes. From 1974-89, Jones was either head coach or assistant coach in volleyball, tennis, field hockey, basketball, cross country and track and field. Jones also returned to coach the SOU women’s tennis team from 1996-98. Jones served as the Women’s Athletic Director from 1975-80 and as Associate Athletic Director from 1980-89. Jones will also be honored next April of 2011 by her alma mater, the University of Oregon, as one of the women pioneers in sports for the Ducks. She will receive an Oregon “varsity letter” at a ceremony at the new Knight Arena.
