Ron was a 3-year All-Conference running back and leader for the Red Raiders under coach Al Akins from 1964-1967.  Ron was offered a tryout with the Detroit Lions but turned it down to begin his 33-year career as an educator in Southern Oregon.  Ron coached football at his alma mater Phoenix High, where his teams won two OSAA state championships and twice finished as runners-up.  During his career Ron served as principal of Hedrick middle school, and Crater and North Medford high schools.
