Originally hired as a Health and Physical Education professor in 1966, Insley served as an assistant men's track coach for eight years until 1974 and helped solidify Southern Oregon's women's track and field program as its head coach from 1978 to 1986.  The Prescott, Arizona native helped shape the futures of countless athletes and over 2,000 undergraduates during his tenure as the PE departments primary academic adviser.  Insley served as the PE department chairman for 15 years and was instrumental in estbalishing fitness and weight conditioning classes and programs for women in the University's curriculum.
