Charles "Pat" Patterson was a SONS star from the Hobson era.  As his team's center, Patterson was noted for his "sweet moves" on the court.  He was a member of the 1935 team that reached the quarter finals in the AAU Denver Tournament.  He later lettered as a center for the University of Oregon, where he was the first black athlete to play in the Pacific Coast Conference.  He also played for the Harlem Globetrotters and was a professional baseball and soccer player.
