Howard "Hobby" Hobson was SONS director of athletics, basketball coach, and football coach from 1932-35. His basketball teams established a 69-15 record and in 1935 SONS played in the AAU Tournament. Hobson also coached basketball at the University of Oregon for 12 years where his legendary "Tall Firs" won the first NCAA title in 1939. He later coached basketball at Yale Unviersity. His book, "Scientific Basketball," is regarded as a classic.
