Coach Simpson directed the 1946 football team to the school's only undefeated season (8-0) in 1946.  During his tenure, the football team won 15 games in a row.  Teams under his tutelage captured one Far West Conference championship and shared two other league championships.  He had a 27-16-1 overall win-loss record as head football coach.  As a basketball coach, the 1946-47 team was 24-4 and advanced to the NAIA B tournament.  Most significantly, he was responsible for reinstituting the athletic program after the war.
